MOVING ON UP to Digital Media Manager
11th April 2018
Remarkably, two months have already passed since I stepped into the role of Digital Media Manager – and it’s fair to say it has gone by like two minutes.
Having only been at SNS a few years, it is of course a challenge but also a huge opportunity for myself.
For someone who has a passion for the media and Scottish football, combined with a keen interest in photography, it is a fantastic place to work, with a frantic pace and no two days the same.
From Andy Murray Wimbledon wins and Calcutta Cup triumphs to last minute Harry Kane equalisers (still hurting…), I’ve already experienced a number of highs and – as is par for the course – a few glorious failures! It has been a great learning process for me on our Digital Desk, especially when it comes to needing the confidence to tell Scottish photography heavyweights like Alan Harvey and Bill Murray that I’m still looking for more action pictures as they stand in the pouring rain in Dingwall at half 10 on a Tuesday night.
People are always given a chance at SNS, regardless of how much or little experience. We’ve just celebrated our 30th anniversary, and there’s no doubt that the high standards we try and adhere to, in both our coverage of sport and our corporate work, are why we have survived so long in such a competitive industry.
However, as I’m sure you’ll see from our social media feeds, we don’t always have to take ourselves too seriously, myself included.
I’m hoping to put my own stamp on the role, and I’m really looking forward to working with our talented team and our varied range of clients in the coming months and years.
